MyDeen legal
Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 10, 2026
1. Scope
This policy explains how MyDeen, operated by Baran Oner ("MyDeen", "we", "our"), handles information in the iOS and Android apps. Platform features differ, so the sections below state which practices apply to each platform.
2. iOS Privacy Summary
The first iOS release has no account creation, sign-in, community posting, advertising, cross-app tracking or analytics SDK. We do not sell personal information.
- On-device data: language, theme, prayer settings, manual city, notification preferences, worship progress, Qada balances, dhikr counters, Quran progress, bookmarks and mosque notes remain on your device or in the app's shared widget container.
- Location: when permission is granted, location is used on device for prayer times and Qibla. You may choose a city manually instead.
- Nearby mosques: only when you request this feature, latitude and longitude are sent to the public OpenStreetMap Overpass service to return nearby mosque results. MyDeen does not attach an account identifier and does not use this information for tracking.
- Notifications and motion: notification permission supports local reminders. Motion sensors improve the Qibla compass; sensor readings are not sent to us.
- Purchases: Apple processes subscriptions. MyDeen receives verified StoreKit transaction and entitlement status needed to unlock or restore Premium; it does not receive your payment-card details.
- Support: feedback opens your email app. Information is received only if you choose to send the email.
3. Android Practices
Android versions may offer optional Google sign-in and community features. If used, Google/Firebase may process account identifiers, email, display name, profile photo, community submissions, reports, notification tokens, diagnostics and app-interaction events needed to provide those features and maintain reliability. Google Play processes subscriptions; MyDeen receives current purchase state and product information through Google Play Billing to unlock and restore Premium. MyDeen does not receive payment-card details.
Android location, local preferences, worship progress and nearby-mosque behavior are used for the same app-functionality purposes described above. The exact Android data disclosures shown on Google Play control for the installed Android version.
4. Service Providers and Sharing
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be processed by Apple, Google Play, Firebase on Android, OpenStreetMap/Overpass when nearby mosques are requested, GitHub Pages for this website, and your email provider when you contact support. Each provider acts under its own terms and privacy practices.
5. Retention and Control
Local data remains until you reset it in MyDeen, uninstall the app or erase the device. App-store purchase records are retained by Apple or Google under their policies. Android account or community records may be retained as needed to provide the feature, prevent abuse, meet legal obligations and honor deletion requests.
- Deny location and use manual city selection.
- Change notification access in system settings.
- Reset local worship, Quran, location and reminder data from MyDeen settings.
- Manage subscriptions through Apple or Google Play.
- Request support or applicable Android account-data deletion at subsetapp@gmail.com.
6. Children, Security and International Processing
MyDeen is a general-audience worship utility and is not directed to children for personal-data collection. We use reasonable safeguards, but no storage or transmission method is completely secure. Providers may process information in countries other than your own.
7. Changes and Contact
Material updates will be posted here with a revised date. Questions may be sent to subsetapp@gmail.com.
